The She Magazine Review:
COST: From £30 per guest; available nationwide - therapists are sent to your home
THE TREATMENT: If you fancy having a manicure while catching up with friends' gossip, all from the comfort of your own sofa, the Pamper Party is just about the most luxurious way to do it. Depending on how many guests you invite and the length of treatment time you've booked, The Pamper Party will send two or three beauty therapists to your home so you can primp and preen in total comfort. You can choose from a menu of services from permanent eyelash curling to Indian head massage, although the most popular tend to be manicures, pedicures and shoulder massages.
SHE's VERDICT: Our tester Torri invited five close friends round to share the party. "This was just what I always imagined a grown-up slumber party to be like - but without the Duran Duran soundtrack or tears at midnight. I'd promised my friends a night of pampering, with some food an naturally lots of wine thrown in too...
I was surprised at how excited we all were by the prospect of a get-together accompanied by beauty and food treats and realised it had been a long time since we'd even met up as a group.
"Our beauty therapists arrived at 7.30pm, massage tables and products on-hand. They were totally professional, yet friendly and lots of fun, even joining in with our celebrity gossip. We had chosen 45 minutes of treatment time each to accommodate two treatments. I was thrilled with my soothing deep shoulder massage and the others revelled in their pedicures, manicures, massages and facials. Although it was slightly surreal to catch a glimpse of my friend Lou having a facial in my dining room, it felt truly decadent to be having a manicure, a chat and a glass of wine at the same time.
"One word of advice: good organisation is key to hosting a pamper party. The therapists' equipment can take up a surprising amount of room, so you need to clear a space before they arrive. As well as lighting scented candles to create a relaxing ambience, I chose to flap about cooking dinner, but simple snacks, pizza (ordered in) and bottles of wine is probably the way to go. (although, for spa theme, crudites might be more appropriate! On the plus side, as a hostess, I was able to tumble straight into bed and a blissful, deep sleep after my massage, instead of having to brave a chilly taxi ride home."
